Royal County Down Golf

Royal County Down Golf Club is a world-renowned golf course located in Newcastle, County Down, Northern Ireland. The club was founded in 1889 and its current course was designed by Old Tom Morris and then later refined by Harry Vardon and Harry Colt. The course is situated in the shadow of the stunning Mourne Mountains and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

Royal County Down Golf Club has hosted many prestigious tournaments, including the Irish Open, the Walker Cup, and the Curtis Cup. In 2015, the club hosted the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, which was won by Scottish golfer Soren Kjeldsen. The course has been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world by golf publications and is particularly renowned for its challenging and unpredictable layout, with ever-changing wind conditions adding to the difficulty of the course. The 4th and 9th holes are often considered to be among the best in golf.
